Intellectual Property Valuation
Intellectual property (“IP”) is a term that refers to a broad range of the results of creative endeavours. IP includes such things as patents, trademarks, designs and copyrights. Companies or individuals that own IP may want to sell or license their rights and establish royalty arrangements. We can assist by establishing a value for the IP which will help set reasonable rates for future income. We have also been involved in transfers of IP to off-shore entities in order to gain access to global markets and minimize domestic taxes.
Duty Drawback Claims
Many companies pay import duties when goods are brought into Canada. Some of these goods may be exported and sold to other countries. In these cases, the company can recover the duties paid on importation by filing a “drawback” claim. Dealing with the Canada Customs and Border Services Agency can be a daunting process, but our experienced consulting team is able to assist in expediting the claims process and minimizing the time required to receive the refunds.
